Reflections

This is just telling you what I have been up to...

• I finished my self portrait - My self portrait was a silhouette. 
• I started my CV - We are doing these for the 'Our Community' topic.
• We started Literature Circles - Explains post below.
• We were meant to do Environmental Day today but it has been postponed - Nothing much to tell.
• We had Swimming Sports and I placed 2nd in my 50m Freestyle, 2nd in my 25m Backstroke and 3rd in my 25m Breath stroke - It was a fun filled day and I really enjoyed myself. I did not place in my 25m Freestyle.
• I finished my Geometry maths paper - It was hard and easy in different parts.
• I completed 2 E-Asttle tests, 1 Reading and 1 Maths - These were easy in parts and hard in others.

Literature Circles

We have started Literature Circles this week and I chose to read the book Recruit by Robert Muchamore from the CHERUB series.

We had a choice of 10 books and I chose this one.

Sailing

Let's look back to my day on the 16th of February 2016. The year 8's went to the last 'Volvo Sailing... Have A Go' with school. We were at school early to leave to go to Maraetai Beach where we were sailing 2 person boats. When we got to our destination we changed into our gear and set up our boats.

After the boats were ready we were asked who would like to go on the Weta. Emma and I raised our hands. Going on the Weta was an AMAZING experience. We were the first wet and now I understand why it is called the Weta. I had a rush of energy and was on a high for the rest of the awesome day.

After going on the Weta Emma and I went in a two person boat and cruised around with the others until lunch. After lunch we swapped partners and I was with Nick and we cruised some more before capsizing. 

The energy you get from capsizing is a nervous and excited energy and when we climbed back into the boat we were bailing and laughing so much.

The funniest part of the day was being towed back to shore because we came untied and were almost left behind and then a few minutes later Karlson and Meagan rope snapped off their boat and we had to go and get them before being towed in to the shore. 

Overall it was a great day and it would be a place I would recommend to anyone. 

The New Year

Welcome to a New Year everyone.

You have new beginnings and you get a chance to start again and try harder.

Last year at Prize Giving I received multiple awards including

• The Frost Family Cup for Overall Excellence in Year 7
• The Trophy For Excellence in Computer Science
• Certificate for Participating in Ukulele
• Certificate for Participating in Choir

This year I am also School Leader with Meagan and Karlson. 

My Hockey Tournament

Today I completed my Hockey tournament that I have been running over the past few weeks

Today was the Final and Cossey won and will be receiving the trophy on Friday at Prizegiving.

What Have I Been Up To...

I seem to forget to post so I am going to do it as one great big post if I have to.

First things first Ag Day

For Ag Day I had a lamb named Frosty. At Ag Day we had to do leading, calling, and rearing and bloom. I had horrible luck with calling and he didn't come. For rearing and bloom I did a lot better because I knew a lot about where they came from and how old and so much more. For leading I came 1st place. I thought I was having problems hearing but he did say 'Kaitlyn'. When we had prize giving I was called up twice. I received the Senior Lamb Leading trophy and the Senior Champion Lamb trophy. I was really proud of myself because it was also my first year doing a lamb and I did really well.

Moving On,

In class we have a great big maths sheet to nut our way through. I am about one third to half way through but there are people behind and ahead of me.

At school we are doing up Room 8 and we are making it into a Makerspaces and STEAM room.

Tomorrow we are heading off to The Mind Lab to get some ideas about what we are going to do at our school.

Just An Update

This is just a quick pot because I haven't been posting much. We have been doing maths sheets. Today we did a Science experiment using vinegar and baking soda to inflate balloons because a lot of people were at Athletics

SCIENCE!!

For our Prep for Learning we have to research a scientist and write a detailed biography.
We also have to choose a science experiment and share it with the class and I have chosen to do The Lava In A Cup Experiment.

Agricultural Day

On the 17th of October we had Ag Day.

I did a lamb as my animal but you could also do a calf, chicken or small animal. We could also do a Rural Assignment for the people that lived in town. I live in town but I had a lamb named Frosty.

We also had to do Ag Day Art. We had to make...

• Puppets
• Decorative Bottle Planting Pots

My favourite was making the puppets. We had to choose one of a few designs and I chose to do a Minion. 

I also liked making Pompom Sheep even though they were a last minute addition because we finished all our other art on the Thursday.
